Buffalo Adore opens on Abbott Road

A new shop featuring products made exclusively by local artists from Western New York has opened at 391 Abbott Road in South Buffalo.

Proprietor Andrea Dacey opened the retail store in October and is working with dozens of artists. The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday. For more information, call 602-8503.

New location for chamber office

The Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce office is now located in the Tosh Collins Community Center, 35 Cazenovia Street, near the corner of Abbott Road in South Buffalo.

Seneca Street welcomes new hobby shop

A new hobby shop, Section 8 Hobbies, has opened at 2234 Seneca Street in South Buffalo. The shop sells model kits, both new and vintage, model rocketry, tools, paints, supplies, kites, and lots of detail accessories.

“I started out with my father doing model trains when I was seven or eight years old,” says proprietor Justen Hanna, who lives above the shop with his wife and son.

Expo & Irish Feis planned for September 8

The annual 'Shop in Your Neighborhood' Expo is planned for Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 1-5 p.m. in Cazenovia Park. The Expo is an excellent opportunity for businesses, organizations, and schools to share information about their product or service. The event is held alongside Goin' South's Irish Feis, a daylong outdoor celebration of live Irish music. Parade of Circles is Sunday, June 3rd

The annual Parade of Circles is planned for Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. on McKinley Parkway.

Dozens of contingents will march from Dorrance and McKinley down to Heacock Park. Schools, dance academies, the award-winning South Park High School marching band, classic cars, floats, and miniature cars will all be part of the fun.

A picnic in Heacock Park will follow. There will be hot dogs, chips, pop, games, live music, and fun!

The Parade of Circles is presented and sponsored by SOUTH BUFFALO ALIVE and the Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce.

The Valley's Buffalo River Fest is June 15, 16, & 17

The Valley Community Association's annual Buffalo River Fest is planned for June 15, 16, 17 at the new RiverFest Park ("Peg's Park").

Music, food, refreshments, beer tent, Rigidized Regatta, and lots of activities are planned. Please see attached flyer for details.

Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament planned for July 30th at Brierwood Country Club

Golf anyone?

The Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce is planning a golf tournament for Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Brierwood Country Club in Hamburg.

The day will include 18 rounds of golf, a riding cart, lunch, dinner, open bar, prizes, and a great day of networking.

Trocaire College is the title sponsor for the event.

The tournament will be a scramble and check-in will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Shotgun start at noon. Registration fee is $150 payable to the Greater South Buffalo Chamber of Commerce by check or VISA/MC.

Tee sponsors available for $100.

The Top Hill Grill is open again, serving lunch at 104 Fillmore Avenue, just off of Seneca Street.

Karen Solowski Tunis’s grandmother, Mary Solowski, opened the neighborhood bar and restaurant in Buffalo’s “Little Hollywood” neighborhood in 1941. She turned it over to her son, Walter Solowski, Karen’s father, in 1972, and he ran the business until he died several years ago.
